Simple Present Tense


·         The Simple Present Tense Is Used:
-          To express habits, general truths, repeated action or unchanging situations, emotions, and wishes:
I smoke (habit),
I work in London (unchanging situation),
London is a large city (general truths).

-          To give instruction or direction:
You walk for two hundred meters, then you turn left.

-          To express fixed arrangements, present, or future:
Your exam start at 09.00.

·         Adverb Of Time:
1.       Always                                  5. Seldom
2.       Never                                   6. Usually
3.       Every                                     7. Sometimes
4.       Often
                                                                                                              
·         Verbal Sentence:     

- Positive Form
S + Verb I (s/es) + Object + .  

Example:
He goes to school. 

  - Negative Form
   S + do/does + not + Verb I + Object + .
    Example:
It does not run very fast.
     
- Interrogative Form
S + Verb I (s/es) + Object + .  
Example:
Do you write the story ? 
 
-          Verbs ending in-y: the third person
Changes the-y to-ies:
Fly --- flies
Cry---cries
Exception:
If there is a vowel before the-y:
Play --- plays
Pray --- prays

-          Add-es to verbs ending in:
-ss, -x, -sh, -ch:
He passes, she catches, he fixes, it pushes.
                                  
·         Non Verbal Sentence
     

Positive Form
S + to be (am/is/are) + noun/adjective/adverb + .
Example:
They are in library.

  Negative Form
S + to be (am/is/are) + not + noun/adjective/adverb + .

Example:
They are not in library. 

  Interrogative Form
To be (am/is/are) + S + noun/adjective/adverb + ?
Example:
Are they in library?
